can rest assured that both supporters of both mitt romney and president obama will be looking for body blows to be landed. we're hearing the reports that the romney campaign, that romney is working on some neat little attack lines, working on some zingers. today the obama campaign, the press secretary for the obama campaign, said that the president, don't expect for him to be landing any zingers. he's going to be looking straight into the camera speaking to the american public, trying to avoid zingers. basically trying to talk about his vision for moving the country ahead, so basically a little bit of different strategy we're hearing on both sides. you mentioned just a moment ago where both candidates will be hunkered down. obama in nevada and mitt romney in denver come tuesday. in terms of their post debate plans, we're hearing paul ryan and mitt romney will reunite essentially and campaign in virginia. president obama will be in denver and madison, wisconsin, and joe biden will be in iowa. obviously, a lot going on in the final -- and the final preparations for the debate and just ri

right. both of talented debaters. obama has some advantages. he's debated in the general election stage before. romney has the advantage of having simply debated more over the last year. so i think it's kind of an even stage there, but the situation is not comparable to reagan versus carter. the economic metrics when carter was running for re- election were extremely negative, much more negative than they are today, and just this last week, polls show that the pub has more confidence in the president's economic views and vision and program than romney. so he has lost the one advantage that he once had. secondly, there were a lot of independent, undecided voters in 1980 who had lost faith in carter and were just waiting to see if they could feel confidence in his challenger. there are so few independent voters. this is an election that's about mobilizing the bases. so going after the independent voter is not a big surprise. having said all that in the memo put out by david axelrod -- >> who is who? >> he's the campaign guru on the obama side. >> right. >> he points out that five of

journalists might say about it. that ad moves people and has an impact. i have seen both obama and romney suddenly tweak or change or drop language called out by fact checkers. ultimately, there was a decision there that it does not mean that much to us if we fix this. we will get less grief if we treat it a bit or change it on the margins, but the key things that move voters, such as, he apologizes for america or obama with that ridiculous thing about savings from the wars, and in the same breath he criticizes george w. bush for running wars on a credit card. he will say those on this one sentence after another without any sense he is contradicting himself. there is pulling there that says that is an effective line and moves voters. it does not matter what the actual facts are. that is when -- >> in that statement, he also said, fact checkers come to this with their own sense of thoughts and ideas and backgrounds. he is trying to redefine what a fact is. he is saying, there are no objective facts. it is to somebody else's opinion about what we are saying. it is kind of like redefining ap

first step to a stronger medicare is to repeal obama care because it represents the worst of both worlds. i had a feeling there would be mixed reaction, so let me get into it. it weakens medicare for today's seniors and puts it at risk for the next generation. >> well, not too popular there. now we've got the poll that is put concrete numbers behind those boos. a new poll by "the washington post" and the kaiser family foundation shows that medicare trails only the economy as the top voting issue in the swing states of florida, ohio, and virginia. and among voters who say medicare is extremely important to their vote, obama swamps romney by, get this, 13 points. when voters in those states were asked a similar question, whom they trusted to deal with the medicare program, obama again trumps romney in all the polls. in ohio obama leads romney on medicare by 19. in florida, 15. in virginia, 13. other polls have shown president obama's advantage on medicare has grown significantly since ryan joined the ticket. so let's go back to this again, trying to figure this out. he bought into a
